What the firm collects when you use this site or write to it, what it does with it, and what it does not do.

Who we are
Rand Thompson Consultants is an executive search firm in New York City. This policy covers this website, randthompson.com, the calendar you can book a call through, and the details you send the firm through either.
What we collect
- What you send us. If you write to the firm through the contact page, register interest in a search, book a call, or email us, we receive what you choose to send: typically your name, your email address, a telephone number, a LinkedIn link, and anything you write. You are never required to send a document.
- How you found us. When you send an enquiry, the site sends with it where your visit began: the site that linked to us, the first page you landed on, and any campaign tag in that link. It is held only in your browser until you send something, and it tells the firm which of its posts and pages people find useful.
- How the site is used. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see how the site is used: which pages are read, how visitors arrived, and which links are used, such as the telephone number, an email address, or the booking calendar. It records that a form was sent, never what was in it.
- Technical details. Our hosting provider records the ordinary details of a visit, such as the page requested, the time, and the type of browser, for security and to keep the site running.
Analytics and cookies
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, so that a return visit is counted as the same visitor. They hold a random number, not your name or email address. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. We keep analytics data for fourteen months, and we have not turned on Google signals or any of Google's advertising features, so your visits here are not used to show you advertisements.
The site sets no other cookies of its own. The booking calendar, which is provided on the firm's behalf by LeadConnector, may set its own cookies to run the booking. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, and the site still works. To stop Google Analytics on every site you visit, Google offers a browser add-on.
How we use it
- To answer you, and to have the conversation you asked for.
- If you book a call: to hold the time, and to send you the invitation, with the telephone number or the Zoom link, and a reminder.
- If you are a candidate: to consider you for searches the firm is running, and to keep in touch about searches that may suit you later. Nothing about you reaches a client without your agreement.
- If you are a client or a prospective client: to scope and run a search, and to keep you informed of the market.
- To understand which pages and posts are useful, and to improve the site.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not charge candidates a fee, and we do not ask candidates for payment details.
- We do not send a candidate's details to any firm without that candidate's agreement.
Who else sees it
The people at Rand Thompson Consultants who need it to do the work described above, and the providers that run these services on our behalf: Kinsta and Cloudflare host and protect the site; Google provides the analytics; LeadConnector holds the firm's contact records and runs the booking calendar; Microsoft runs the firm's email; and Zoom runs a call you choose to hold by Zoom, under Zoom's own privacy policy. Each provider is bound to handle information only to provide its service. We disclose information where the law requires it.
Automated tools
The firm uses software, including artificial intelligence tools, to draft documents, organize research, and keep its records. The forms on this site run automatic checks to keep out spam, which look at how a form was sent, never at who sent it. People make every decision about a candidate or a search. No automated tool screens, ranks, or rejects candidates, and no decision about you is made by software alone.
How long we keep it
What you send us, for as long as the conversation is live, and afterward for as long as the firm has a legitimate reason to keep in touch, which for a search firm can be years. You can ask us to stop at any time. Analytics data, for fourteen months.
Your choices
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to jmazzei@randthompson.com and we will act on it. Residents of jurisdictions with specific privacy rights, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and California, have those rights here.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. We keep information on systems with access controls, and we limit access to the people who need it. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, and we cannot promise otherwise, but we take reasonable care.
Children
This site is for professionals and is not directed at anyone under eighteen.
