Our client, one of the largest and most successful alternative managers/buy-side fund,is a leading full service real estate investment advisor, is seeking to fill a Research & Strategy position at the Assistant Vice President or Vice President level in its Alternatives and Real Assets division.

Responsibilities Include:
The candidate will be responsible for analyzing a variety of US real estate markets with specific emphasis on the multi-family sector. This will require in-depth property sector research, evaluating the numerous economic, industry and company factors that impact commercial real estate performance. The synthesis of this quantitative and qualitative analysis will include a forecast of market conditions to directly support senior management in the formation and implementation of the firm’s House View investment strategies, portfolio construction and transaction reviews.

In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to contribute to other topical investment strategy reports (white papers) on a periodic basis.

The AVP/VP will report to a Director and the position requires a modest amount of travel. Office location will be in New York or San Francisco.

Skills Required:

Candidates must have direct experience in preparing, managing, and presenting a range of applied real estate research projects including:

• Market-level analyses of the multi-family sector
• Forecasts of market conditions and performance
• Strategic research reports related to real estate investment

The successful candidate should have a well-developed understanding of real estate as an investment class, a demonstrated interest in conducting both qualitative and quantitative real estate research, strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and in a team situation. Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is assumed and experience with statistical software is preferred.

An advanced degree in real estate, finance, or a related field is required, and the amount of experience required depends upon the position.
