Capital Markets Specialist AVP/VP

Position Summary

The firm is seeking to fill a Research & Strategy position at the Assistant Vice President or Vice President level in its Alternatives division.

The candidate will be responsible for providing research and strategy coverage of U.S. real estate capital markets. This will include analyzing transaction activity and pricing trends across the four quadrants of real estate, including public and private debt and equity. Specific responsibilities corresponding to this position are as follows:

  •  Prepare internal and external reports and presentations on current trends and the outlook for real estate capital markets, including implications for investment strategies across the four quadrants.
  • Forecast the performance of listed REIT and private real-estate debt benchmarks, as well as their sub-indices, using a variety of economic, financial, and real-estate market inputs.
  • Develop and update research-driven quantitative models and disseminate market information that supports the listed REIT and Debt businesses.
  • Incorporate information and signals from the listed REIT and Debt markets into the outlook for private equity real estate, property sectors, and markets.

The AVP/VP will report to a Director and the position requires a modest amount of travel. Office location will be in New York.

Skills Required:

The successful candidate should have a well-developed understanding of economics and finance as it relates to real estate as an investment class, a demonstrated interest and experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative real estate research, strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and in a team situation. Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is assumed. The ideal candidate will have experience in modeling and forecasting and working with statistical software packages. Experience with listed REITs is preferred, and experience with infrastructure investing is a plus.

An undergraduate degree in real estate, economics, finance, or a related field is required; an advanced degree or progress toward the CFA is preferred. A minimum of five years of experience is required.
